Between 1959 and 1964 he was active at Pukeberg, one of Sweden’s oldest and best-preserved glassworks, and then at Kosta glassworks and Kosta Boda. For about a decade from 1974, Göran Wärff was active in the UK and Australia, where he also taught students in glass art in his own studio in Sydney. He has been reconnected with Kosta Boda since 1986.

Wärff has made public art for the Sydney Opera House, a mosque in Abu-Dhabi and the Växjö Cathedral. He has received numerous awards, such as the Lunning Prize, which he received together with Ann Wärff for jointly designed utility glass, and an Excellent Swedish Design award for his collection Limelight. Wärff’s work is represented at the Nationalmuseum, Nordiska Museet and the Swedish National Museum of Science and Technology in Stockholm, Röhsska Museum in Gothenburg, Malmö Museum, KODE Art Museums and Composer Homes in Bergen, Norway, and the British Museum and Victoria and Albert Museum in London. Göran Wärff has designed Ice Cube, a votive candle holder, for Orrefors.

“The glowing mass of glass inside the oven attracts me to discoveries. Each start gives me the desire to convey the experience of the magic of glass again. To make a piece of glass a carrier of light, sea and air. I want to create a home for the light, the warmth and the sensual. ”
